If you find yourself anywhere near Elysburg, PA 17824, you owe it to yourself to stop at Knoebels Amusement Resort.  Knoebels is a blast into the past and just plain family fun!!!   To start with - it is free to go in and just roam, play games, eat wonderful food, or just take in the atmosphere.  When is the last time you went to a park like that other than a shopping lot mobile fair?  Walking up and down the park, one gets the feeling of walking into the past and seeing this amusement park with child like amazement and excitement.  The entire park is set up as a family vacation.  There are cabins to rent, a HUGE camp ground directly attached, putt-putt golf, a big swimming pool and of course all the things that you would find at an amusement park. 

We stayed at the campground and it was busy!  They even supply wood to burn for camp fires!   The coasters where right outside our door!  But no need to worry about getting sleep because the entire park shuts down at 10:00 pm every night just so that you can start a camp fire and hang out with your family (if you are spending the night). 

Because entry is free,  you buy tickets for the rides you want to ride – just like you remembered from childhood days and the price was great too!  They have all kinds of rides for all ages ranging from kiddies rides to thrill rides.  We are hard core thrill riders.  Both the big roller coasters, “Phoenix” and “Twister” had us hooting and hollowing for MORE!  We had to purchase more tickets because we loved them so very much!  We even loved the “The Haunted House” – which just received the Dark ride and Funhouse Enthusiast (DAFE) EIGHTH consecutive year of being named number one on a list of the top ten dark rides.   We ended the night with homemade waffle ice cream sandwiches (yummy) and a game of “Fascination”!

If you are looking for a reasonable place to take the entire family for vacation, check out Knoebels.  We only scheduled one full day there and it was not enough!
